Four weeks ago, we launched our annual Summer Charity Challenge in memory of our dear colleague Bernd, who sadly passed away this year. The aim of this year’s Charity Challenge was to bring colleagues together to support two important charitable organisations: DSG Deutsche Gesellschaft für Suizidprävention in Germany and AVC, which provides humanitarian support to vulnerable communities in more than 60 countries, as so wished by Bernd.
The challenge has now come to an end, and we are delighted to share what we have achieved together.
Over the four weeks, participants took part in a wide range of activities, including walking, hiking, running, cycling, swimming and mountain climbing. Together, we covered an impressive 6,595 kilometres, with 580 individual activity entries recorded throughout the challenge.
Our final distance was made up of:
- Cycling: 4,181 km
- Walking / Running / Hiking: 2,321 km
- Swimming: 45.29 km
- Mountain Climbing: 48.22 km
Alongside the physical challenge, the team raised an impressive €4,150 for our chosen charities.
But the challenge was about more than the final numbers. It was about colleagues motivating and supporting one another, taking on personal challenges and finding different ways to contribute. From early morning runs and weekend hikes to bike rides, swims and mountain climbs, the many activities shared throughout the challenge showed the commitment and enthusiasm across Team elderbrook.
A further contribution from Senior Management
We are also pleased to share that our Senior Management has decided to recognise the team’s efforts with an additional contribution of more than double the amount raised through the challenge.
This brings the total contribution to our two charities to €10,000.
We are very proud that our collective efforts will now have an even greater impact, supporting the important work of both DSG and AVC.
A big thank you to everyone who took part, contributed, encouraged others or shared their activities throughout the challenge. Every kilometre and every contribution helped us reach this fantastic result.
And a special thank you to our Senior Management for their generous additional contribution and for helping us turn our four-week challenge into an even greater contribution to two very worthwhile causes.
Thank you, Team elderbrook, for making this year’s Summer Charity Challenge such a success.
